Romania's national currency, the leu, climbed to 3.63 against the single European currency in today's opening session, but then dropped to 3.64.

Banks bought the euro with 3.6405 lei and sold it for 3.6455 lei at 11 a.m.
On international markets, the U.S. dollar dropped constantly in the morning, from 1.5787 to 1.5847 versus the euro. At 11 a.m. Romania's hour, the euro was traded for 1.5822 U.S. dollars.
Interbank interests for overnight deposits stood at 10.85 – 11.35 percent per year, exceeding the monetary policy rate of 10 percent per year, on lower liquidity on the market.
