Ecografia este o metodă non-invazivă de analiză a sânului, cu ajutorul ultrasunetelor, relevantă pentru femeile peste 35 de ani. "Tehnica examinării ecografice este facilă, se realizează cu ajutorul unei sonde de examinare ecografice pe care se aplică un gel special. Se examinează toată suprafața mamară, inclusiv regiunile axilare, astfel încât să poate fi descoperite eventualele leziuni", au precizat reprezentanții Spitalului Privat Isis.
Mamografia, o altă investigație esențială în depistarea cancerului de sân, este o radiografie a sânului, care duce la detectarea modificărilor la nivelul structurii sânului, cu câțiva ani înainte de apariția unor semne sau simptome detectabile prin examinare clinică sau autoexaminare. "Se face doar la recomandarea medicului, în funcție de istoricul medical sau preventiv, în special după vârsta de 40 de ani. Timpul de efectuare a mamografiei este variabil, fiecare expunere durează câteva secunde și se recomandă minim două imagini pentru fiecare sân", au mai precizat reprezentanții spitalului privat.
"Mamografia și ecografia sunt două metode imagistice care se completează, nu se exclud. Există leziuni care, din cauza densității țesutului glandular mamar, nu pot fi identificate mamografic, iar pentru aceste situații este recomandată examinarea ecografică. De asemenea, sunt leziuni la nivelul sânului care nu pot fi identificate ecografic. Este bine ca ambele investigații să fie făcute la recomandarea medicului, astfel încât să se reducă riscul nedescoperirii unor leziuni ale sânului", au concluzionat cadrele medicale.
