Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE) started the day in the black following four days of turmoil, all the indexes rising after Romania’s statistics body (INS) estimated a 6% economic growth for 2007; the same positive trend was posted by European stocks.

Opening session deals amounted to 4.75 million lei (1.27 million euros). The BET index measuring the market’s ten top performers gained 2.65 percent to 7,439.40 and the BET-C index assessing all listed shares minus investment funds grew 2.29 percent to 5,200.75.
The ROTX index for trading blue-chips in Vienna advanced 2.51 percent to 16,401.28. The BET-FI index tracking the five investment funds known as SIFs rose 3.7 percent to 60,871.52.
SIF Moldova (SIF2) shares rose 3.02 percent, to 2.73 lei. The shares of SIF Oltenia (SIF5) upped 3.07 percent, to 3.36 lei.
Lender Banca Transilvania (TLV), the fifth by assets in Romania, rose 2.04 percent to 0.75 lei. The shares of BRD SocGen, Romania’s second largest lender by assets, upped 3.52 percent, to 20.60 lei per share.
The shares of Romania’s electricity provider Transelectrica (TEL) gained 1.08 percent, to 28 lei.
