Romania's leu climbs to 3.65 against the euro on closing session, owing to higher interbank interest

Romania's leu increased to 3.65 lei against the single European currency at the end of the day, on higher interbank interest rates, dealers said.
Banks sold the euro for 3.6460 lei in today's opening session. The leu slipped to 3.6605 against the euro and then climbed to 3.65. The national currency stood at 3.6520-3.6570 lei versus the euro at 5 p.m.
The U.S. dollar oscillated from 1.4701 to 1.4761 against the euro on international markets and at 5 p.m. Romania's hour, the euro was sold for 1.4733 U.S. dollars.
Interbank interest rates for overnight deposits exceeded the monetary policy rate set at 9 percent by the central bank, on lower liquidity on the market.
