Romania's national currency, the leu, dropped to 3.64 against the single European currency this morning, on foreign investors' bad image towards the region, which affected exchange rates for several currencies in the region, dealers said.

The leu dipped from 3.62 to 3.65 versus the euro in today's opening session and then recovered to 3.64. Banks bought the euro with 3.6410 lei and sold it for 3.6480 lei at 11:30 a.m.
On international markets, the U.S. dollar slipped from 1.5570 to 1.56 versus the euro. At 11:30 a.m. Romania's hour, the euro was traded for 1.5601 U.S. dollars.
Interbank interests for overnight deposits stood at 9.5 – 10 percent per year, close to the monetary policy rate of 9.75 percent per year.
