Romania's leu dips to 3.66 versus the euro in today's opening session, follows regional trend

Romania's national currency, the leu, climbed to 3.64 against the single European currency in today's opening session and then slipped to 3.66, in line with other foreign currencies in the region, dealers said.
The leu increased to 3.6416 lei per euro this morning and then dropped to 3.6610. Banks bought the euro with 3.6550 lei and sold it for 3.6600 lei at 11 a.m.
On international markets, the U.S. dollar inched from 1.5482 to 1.5408 versus the euro. At 11 a.m. Romania's hour, the euro was sold for 1.5413 U.S. dollars.
Interbank interests for overnight deposits stood at 9.75 – 10.25 percent per year, exceeding the monetary policy rate of 9.75 percent per year, on higher demand for lei on the market.
Romania's Ministry of Economy will organize today a 500 million lei tender for state securities with discount at six months and Romania's Central Bank (BNR) will announce how much money it plans to collect today in three-month deposits.
