Romania's leu drops to 3.69 versus the euro in today's opening session, in contrast with the region

Romania's national currency, the leu, dipped to 3.6890 versus the single European currency in today's opening session, on o calm market, evolving in contrast with other emergent currencies in the region.
The leu started session at 3.6460 lei per euro and then lost ground to 3.6890. Banks were buying an euro with 3.68 lei and selling it for 3.69 lei at 10:45 a.m.
The currencies in the region gained ground versus the euro this morning. The Polish zloty increased from 3.5480 to 3.5125 and the Hungarian forint advanced from 265.84 to 262.65, and then stabilized around 263.50.
On international markets, the U.S. dollar slipped from 1.3402 to 1.3530 versus the euro and then inched to 1.35. At 10:45 a.m. Romania's hour, the euro was traded for 1.3502 U.S. dollars.
Interbank interests for overnight deposits stood at 20-50 percent per year, high above the key interest rate of 10.25 percent per year, following liquidity problems on the interbank market.
