Romania's national currency, the leu, dropped to 3.7420 against the single European currency in today's opening session, next to other foreign currencies in the region, but started to gain ground afterwards, dealers said.

Banks bought the euro with 3.7325 lei and sold it for 3.7395 lei at 10:50 a.m.
The U.S. dollar started to go up against the euro on international markets, from 1.5787 to 1.5651 U.S. dollars; at 10:50 a.m. Romania's hour, the euro stood at 1.5652 U.S. dollars.
Interbank interests for overnight deposits stood close to the monetary policy rate of 9.5 percent per year, on higher liquidity on the market.
