Romania's currency, the leu, remained around 3.67 against the single European currency in today's opening session, on a calm market without significant moves, dealers said.

The leu stood at 3.6690 lei per euro this morning. Banks bought the euro with 3.6705 lei and sold it for 3.6745 lei at 10:50 a.m.
On international markets, the U.S. dollar dropped from 1.57 to 1.5750 versus the euro. At 10:50 a.m. Romania's hour, the euro was traded for 1.5740 U.S. dollars.
Interbank interests for overnight deposits stood at 10 – 10.5 percent per year, exceeding the monetary policy rate of 9.75 percent per year.
