Romania's national currency, the leu, advanced from 3.6410 to 3.6253 against the single European currency in today's opening session and then slipped to 3.6330, following U.S. dollar decline on international markets.

Banks bought the euro with 3.6320 lei and sold it for 3.6350 lei at 11:30 a.m.
On the international markets, the U.S. dollar fell from 1.5562 to 1.5622 versus the euro. At 11:30 a.m. Romania's hour, the euro was sold for 1.5616 U.S. dollars.
Interbank interests for overnight deposits stood at 9.5 – 10 percent per year, close to the monetary policy rate of 9.75 percent per year, following balance on the market.
