Romania's national currency, the leu, oscillated around 3.6220 and 3.6310 against the single European currency in today's opening session, close to the level in the previous evening, as other foreign currencies in the region showed depreciation trend.

Banks bought the euro with 3.6250 lei and sold it for 3.6300 lei at 10:30 a.m.
On international markets, the U.S. dollar fluctuated around 1.5420 and 1.5460 versus the euro. At 10:30 a.m. Romania's hour, the euro was traded for 1.5434 U.S. dollars.
Interbank interests for overnight deposits stood at 9.85 – 10.25 percent per year, exceeding the monetary policy rate of 9.75 percent per year.
