Romania's national currency, the leu, oscillated around 3.6523 and 3.6615 against the single European currency this morning, showing a light depreciation tendency, as investors had expected a higher increase of the monetary policy rate, dealers said.

Banks bought the euro with 3.6585 lei and sold it for 3.6635 lei at 11 a.m.
Romania's Central Bank (BNR) pushed the key interest rate from 9.5 percent to 9.75 percent per year on Tuesday.
On international markets, the U.S. dollar fluctuated between 1.5467 and 1.5538 versus the euro. At 11 a.m., Romania's hour, the euro was sold for 1.5493 U.S. dollars.
Interbank interests for overnight deposits stood at 10 percent per year, close to the monetary policy rate.
