Indexes on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE) dropped slightly at rising bell today, with the financial sector posting the biggest losses, on liquidity of 3.17 million lei, almost twice bigger than seen in the previous session.
U.S. bourses closed in the red on Friday. The Dow Jones (DJIA) composite index idled at 12,216.40 and the S&P 500 fell 0.80 percent to 1,315.22. Nasdaq slid 0.86 percent to 2,261.18.
In Romania, the BET index measuring the market’s ten top performers slipped 0.46 percent to 6,932.49 and the BET-C index assessing all listed shares minus investment funds lowered 0.38 percent to 4,983.29.
The ROTX index for trading blue-chips in Vienna dipped 0.56 percent to 15,643.01. The BET-FI index tracking the five investment funds known as SIFs fell 1.34 percent to 53, 061.29.
Shares of SIF Moldova (SIF2) were the most liquid today with trades of 559,400 lei and cheapened 2.46 percent to 2.38 lei, followed by SIF Oltenia (SIF5) with deals of 500,200 lei and decreased 2.04 percent to 2.88 lei.
Second lender by assets BRD SocGen (BRD) idled at 20.30 lei on deals of 436,000 lei. SIF Banat-Crisana (SIF1) lost 0.79 percent to 2.50 lei.
Erste Bank (EBS), listed on the international tier of the BSE, dipped 0.71 percent to 153 lei. SIF Muntenia (SIF4) decreased 1.83 percent to to 1.61 lei.
Fifth lender by assets, Banca Transilvania (TLV) idled at 0.73 lei. Gas operator Transgaz Medias (TGN) lost 0.88 percent to 225 lei.
Brokerage house Broker Cluj (BRK) lowered 1.24 percent to 1.59 lei. SIF Transilvania (SIF3) dipped 0.65 percent to 1.52 lei.
