The five financial companies known as SIFs increased 1.52 percent on opening on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE), pushing indexes up.
Deals stood at 2.92 million lei (788,000 euros) after the first half hour of trading, a three-fold hike.
Stock markets in the U.S. closed mixed on Friday. The Dow Jones (DJIA) composite index fell 0.13 percent to 12,609.42 and the S&P 500 index measuring the best 500 companies on the U.S. market gained 0.08 percent to 1,370.40.
On the Romanian market, the BET index of the top ten companies rose 0.75 percent to 7,237.43 and the BET-C composite index tracking all listed shares minus investment funds gained 0.28 percent to 5,111.73 points.
The BET-FI index of the five financial companies known as SIFs climbed 1.47 percent to 55,680.49 and the ROTX index for trading blue-chips in Vienna advanced 0.59 percent to 16,333.07.
Second lender by assets BRD SocGen (BRD) was the most liquid stock this morning generating deals of 690,600 lei and rising 0.92 percent to 21.90 lei, followed by SIF Moldova (SIF2) which gained 1.21 percent to 2.50 lei.
Fifth bank by assets, Banca Transilvania (TLV) remained unchanged at 0.745 lei. SIF Banat-Crisana (SIF1) rose 2.64 percent to 2.72 lei generating deals of 351,000 lei.
SIF Oltenia (SIF5) nudged up 1.69 percent to 3 lei and SIF Muntenia (SIF4) advanced 1.2 percent to 1.69 lei.
Brokerage company Broker Cluj (BRK) added 2.53 percent to 1.62 lei and gas operator Transgaz Medias (TGN) gained 1.35 percent to 233.30 lei.
Shares of Erste Bank (EBS) trading on the international tier of BSE and the majority owner of Romania’s largest bank by assets BCR, gained 0.63 percent to 159 lei.
