Bucharest Stock Exchange starts day with gains; European, Asian stocks hike

Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE) indexes started the day in the black and with the BET-FI index of Romania’s five investment companies (SIFs) advancing 1.65 percent; European, Asian shares rose.

Opening session deals reached 4.17 million lei, down 1.65 percent against the 5.13 million lei seen yesterday.

In the U.S., the composite index Dow Jones (DJIA) gained 0.34 percent to 12,832.18, the S&P 500 index lost 0.04 percent to 1,403.04 and the Nasdaq index climbed 0.27 percent to 2,495.12.

In Romania, the BET index measuring the ten best companies on the BSE inched 0.10 percent to 6,890.86 and the BET-C composite index tracking all listed shares minus investment funds gained 0.14 percent to 4,891.5.

The BET-FI index of the five SIFs upped 1.65 percent to 49,344.61. The ROTX index for trading blue-chips in Vienna gained 0.39 percent to 16,323.59.

On the financial companies sector, SIF Moldova (SIF2) shares gained 1.71 percent to 2.10 lei.

SIF Muntenia (SIF4) climbed 3.27 percent to 1.58 lei while SIF Banat-Crisana (SIF1) upped 2.68 percent to 2.30 lei. SIF Transilvania (SIF3) rose 4.29 percent, to 1.46 lei and SIF Oltenia (SIF5) nudged up 2.22 percent to 2.76 lei.

Fifth lender by assets Banca Transilvania (TLV) was the most liquid stock today within the banking area, yet shares plunged 39.71 percent to 0.419 lei. BSE suspended the percentage price limit for these shares.

BRD SocGen (BRD), Romania’s second lender by assets, idled at 21.40 lei. Erste Bank (EBS) listed on the international tier of the BSE, hiked 0.76 percent to 172.30 lei.

Broker Cluj (BRK) shares gained 1.47 percent, to 0.69 lei. Oil shares of biggest petroleum company Petrom (SNP) dipped 0.61 percent to 0.487 lei. The shares of gas operator Transgaz Medias (TGN) rose 0.75 percent, to 214.70 lei.

Allocation rights of Teraplast Bistrita (TRP01) advanced 2.2 percent, to 0.93 lei.
