Romanian financial companies plunge at starting bell on double liquidity

Stocks at the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE) dropped at opening today on 2.34 percent fall of the BET-XT index measuring the 25 most liquid companies on the market.
Liquidity doubled to 4.14 million lei (1.15 million euros). The BET index of the ten best companies on BSE fell 2.27 percent to 5,875.39 and the BET-C composite index assessing all listed shares minus investment funds slipped 1.62 percent to 4,303.28.
The BET-FI index of the five financial companies known as SIFs lost 2.41 percent to 39,474.10 and the ROTX index for trading blue-chips in Vienna dropped 1.74 percent to 13,549.16.
The BET-XT index measuring the 25 most liquid companies on BSE plunged 2.34 percent to 638.84 and the BET-NG index reflecting the 10 power companies lost 1.92 percent to 769.11.
Bourses in the U.S. closed with moderate falls yesterday on banks’ drop after mortgage lender IndyMac went bankrupt. The Dow Jones (DJIA) composite index lost 0.41 percent to 11,055 and the S&P 500 index measuring the best 500 companies on the market dropped 0.90 percent. Nasdaq plummeted 1.17 percent to 2,212.
Fertilizer maker Azomures (AZO) was the most liquid stock this morning generating deals of 904,589 lei. AZO climbed 5.29 percent to 0.8950 lei.
SIF Transilvania (SIF3) cheapened 1.90 percent to 1.03 lei. SIF Muntenia (SIF4) dropped 2.42 percent to 1.21 lei, SIF Oltenia (SIF5) slipped 2.02 percent to 2.42 lei.
Fifth lender by assets Banca Transilvania (TLV) tumbled 3 percent to 0.3230 lei. Second bank by assets BRD SocGen (BRD) lost 1.60 percent to 18.40 lei.
