Dacă în urmă cu doi ani finalul era previzibil și chiar nu aveau emoții decât naivii, astăzi este greu de spus cine va accede în fotoliul de rector.
De-a lungul istoriei sale de peste două decenii, Universitatea "Ovidius" din Constanța a avut la conducerea sa cinci rectori.
Imediat după transformarea din Institut Pedagogic, primul rector a fost reputatul istoric Adrian Rădulescu, căruia i-a urmat prof. univ. dr. Ioan Dumitru Arsenie, apoi prof. univ. dr. Adrian Bavaru. Prof. univ. dr. Victor Ciupină, poate cel mai longeviv rector, a făcut eforturi pentru a menține cea mai mare instituție de învățământ universitar la cotele ridicate de predecesorii săi, ca mai apoi, cel din urmă rector - prof. univ. dr. Dănuț Tiberius Epure, să rămână în memoria prea multora cu scandalul de corupție.
Nu mai readucem în atenția cititorilor lucru-rile petrecute, pentru că astăzi Universitatea "Ovidius" se află în fața unui nou început, toți cei trei candidați la funcția de rector care vor fi votați promițând să reinstaureze NOR-MALITATEA.
"Trebuie reintrodus spiritul universitar"
De numele rectorului prof. univ. dr. Adrian Bavaru se leagă ascensiunea Universității "Ovidius". Distinsul universitar fusese invitat să modereze confruntarea celor trei candidați care a avut loc vineri, 9 mai, dar pentru că urma să susțină o comunicare la sesiunea Academiei Oamenilor de Științe, a fost nevoit să decline invitația. "Sper ca cei care au drept de vot astăzi să se gândească la viitorul universității, dar și la viitorul lor. În funcție de felul cum merge această universitate le va fi și lor: mai bine sau mai rău. Sper să gândească toți cu capul pe umeri și să-l aleagă pe cel care li se pare lor cel mai bun și care poate să ducă mai departe o sarcină foarte grea. Să nu creadă că a conduce o universitate mai ales după cele întâmplate va fi ușor. Este păcat, pentru că «Ovidius», după ce am terminat și eu mandatul, și rectorul Ciupină, era între primele 15 universități din România din peste 60. E ușor să strici, e foarte greu să construiești, asta trebuie să știe foarte bine viitorul rector. Sper că în timp lucrurile se vor redresa, dacă toți pun mâna. Nu se poate ca unul singur să facă tot. Fiecare facultate, fiecare conducere de facultate trebuie să coopereze cu conducerea universității și împreună să o aducă pe drumul cel bun. Nu se poate face activitate științifică și de cercetare și activitate didactică numai cu asistenți și șefi de lucrări. Nu trebuie excluși oamenii mai în vârstă, profesorii, conferențiarii care au ajuns prin meritul lor în această funcție. Ca să-i dai deoparte și să promovezi chiar tineret, totuși sunt niște etape de parcurs. N-am nimic împotriva tineretului, dar nici nu poți da universitatea pe mâna lor, în condițiile în care de-abia au venit. Mare greșeală și nu numai la noi, se pare că și în țară sunt astfel de situații. Cea mai mare încercare a viitorului rector este aceea de a încerca să facă pace. Să revină la colaborare între toți membrii conducerii, pentru că fără sprijinul lor, fără această cooperare nu se poate face nimic. Dacă va continua să se producă vrajbă și încrâncenare, că de ce e acela și nu celălalt, și nu vor pune umărul să facă treabă, nu vor putea face nimic. Și să nu uite că cercetarea științifică este principalul obiectiv al unei universități de prestigiu. Trebuie reintrodus spiritul universitar, care lipsește în momentul de față, prin eliminarea antagonismelor", a încheiat apreciatul universitar.
